Patna:The Bihar government has initiated measures to strengthen oversight of private coaching centres across the state, including in Patna, by issuing a new set of directions aimed at improving transparency and protecting students’ interests.
Under the proposed framework, all coaching institutes will be required to provide details of enrolled students to the concerned district administration. Officials said the move is intended to improve monitoring of educational activities and ensure greater transparency in the sector.
Student data to be shared with district authorities
According to the directions issued by the state government, coaching centres must maintain and submit records of students studying at their institutions.
The government said the requirement would help district administrations keep track of educational activities and strengthen regulatory oversight.
Restrictions during school and college hours
The government has also stated that coaching centres should not operate during the teaching hours prescribed for schools and colleges.
However, the restriction will not apply to students who have already completed their regular school or college education. The education department has been asked to prepare a detailed set of rules governing the implementation of the directive.
Government cites student welfare
Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, in a post on social media platform X, said the instructions had been issued with students’ interests as the highest priority.
He said the government was committed to ensuring discipline, transparency and quality in the education system, and that the education department had been directed to formulate the necessary regulations for coaching institutions.
Further rules expected
Officials said the education department will prepare a detailed regulatory framework outlining compliance requirements and enforcement mechanisms. Action may be taken against institutions found violating the prescribed norms once the rules are finalised.
