Patna: Bihar’s new Road Construction Minister, Nitin Nabin, has set an ambitious agenda for the next five years, declaring that the state’s priority will be the timely completion of major road projects, including expressways, ring roads and corridors linking rural and industrial zones.
In a statement issued after formally assuming charge, Nabin expressed gratitude to both the prime minister and chief minister, saying the department would work to “fulfil their vision” for a modern and better-connected Bihar.
“The Road Construction Department is the backbone of the state’s development,” he said. “A strong network boosts economic, social and industrial activity, and I thank the leadership for trusting me with this responsibility.”
Expressways, ring roads and Pragati Yatra promises
Nabin said his first priority would be to accelerate projects announced during the chief minister’s Pragati Yatra and to ensure that expressways and ring road projects reach the ground on schedule.
“Our goal is not merely to build roads, but to ensure quality construction, timely completion and complete transparency,” he emphasised.
Tech-driven monitoring and higher quality standards
Highlighting the need for modernisation, Nabin announced that the department’s monitoring system would be strengthened with digital tools, allowing for closer oversight of construction quality.
He said special attention would be given to road safety norms, improved inspection systems and faster correction of lapses.
Rural connectivity and industrial corridors
Under Nitish Kumar’s leadership, Nabin said the next five years would see a major push to connect rural areas with urban centres, expand road access to tourist destinations and link emerging industrial corridors with other parts of Bihar.
Older and damaged stretches would be rebuilt swiftly under the OPRMC model.
Public grievance platform on the way
The minister also announced plans for a public grievance and feedback platform to ensure road-related complaints and suggestions from citizens are addressed promptly.
“I assure the people of Bihar that the department will work at double speed to meet expectations,” Nabin added.
