Patna: Bihar’s newly appointed Road Construction Minister, Nitin Nabin, has pledged to accelerate key infrastructure projects and modernise the state’s road network during his tenure.
Speaking after assuming office, Nabin described the Road Construction Department as “the backbone of the state’s overall development,” emphasizing the role of roads in boosting economic, social, and industrial activity. He expressed gratitude to both the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister for entrusting him with the responsibility.
“Our priority will be to ensure the timely completion of important projects such as expressways and ring roads,” Nabin said, noting that projects announced during the Pragati Yatra would also receive top attention. He highlighted plans to strengthen monitoring systems through technology and to maintain a strict focus on construction quality.

Nabin outlined a broader vision for the department, stating that the objective was not merely to build roads, but to foster development through quality construction, timely execution, and transparency. Over the next five years, the department aims to improve connectivity between rural and urban areas, enhance access to tourist destinations, and link industrial corridors with other parts of the state.
He also announced the rapid reconstruction of old and damaged roads under the OPRMC (Operation Public Road Maintenance and Construction) and said the department would increasingly adopt modern technology, digital monitoring systems, and strict road safety standards. Plans are also underway to establish a grievance redressal platform to address public concerns.

“In line with the government’s development-oriented vision, the Road Construction Department will give a new direction to the state’s progress,” Nabin said, promising that the department would work at “double speed” to meet public expectations.
