Patna: The Bihar Education Department has taken a strict stance on the issuance of separate orders regarding the operation of government schools on Saturdays.
Acting on the directions of Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari, the department has instructed all District Education Officers (DEOs) not to issue any separate orders at the district level without prior approval from the competent authority.
Schools to Operate From 9:30 AM to 1 PM
According to the latest departmental directive, government schools across Bihar will continue to function for half a day on Saturdays, from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM.
The department clarified that no change has been made to the existing arrangement. District-level authorities have been directed to ensure that the prescribed timings are followed uniformly across the state.
Action Against Officials for Violations
The directive comes after the department took note of reports that separate instructions had reportedly been issued in some districts regarding Saturday school timings without approval from the competent authority.
A letter issued by the Secondary Education Office stated that DEOs must strictly follow the department’s instructions.
The department has also warned that disciplinary action may be taken against DEOs who fail to comply with the directive.
Uniform School Timings Across Bihar
The Education Department has emphasised that school timings should not vary from one district to another based on unauthorised local orders.
DEOs have therefore been directed to ensure strict implementation of the prescribed Saturday schedule and maintain uniformity across government schools in Bihar.
