Siwan: A woman from Siwan has applied for correction after her birth year was mistakenly recorded as 1900 during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll, which listed her as 124 years old instead of her actual age in her voter details. The applicant, identified as Minta Devi, reportedly filled the SIR form online and has now submitted a request to rectify the error, citing her valid documents that show a 1990 birth year.
Local election officials said the discrepancy appears to have arisen from a data-entry mistake during the online application, and the matter will be processed through Form-8 under the claims and objections window of the ongoing SIR. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in the area have been instructed to verify supporting documents and ensure that the voter’s age and associated particulars are corrected in the draft roll before final publication.
The case has drawn attention as Bihar undertakes a state-wide revision of electoral rolls, with authorities urging applicants to double-check entries while filing online forms and to use BLO assistance where needed to avoid clerical errors. Officials added that corrections submitted with proper documentation are typically resolved within the stipulated timelines of the SIR process.
