Samastipur/Patna: Social worker and rural medical practitioner Dr Gulzar, also known as Sahin, was shot dead by unidentified assailants who allegedly entered his home in Kesrauda village under Hasanpur police station late on Friday night.
Family members and villagers discovered the incident on Saturday morning, triggering outrage in the area.
Police Begin Investigation
A police team led by Sunil Kant of Hasanpur police station reached the spot after receiving information and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the killing.
According to police, Dr Gulzar was shot three times in the temple while he was asleep. The manner of the attack meant that neighbours reportedly remained unaware of the incident during the night.
Rosera DSP Sanjay Kumar Sinha confirmed the killing and said the victim was a rural medical practitioner who had been shot in the temple.
FSL Team, Dog Squad Called
Police have summoned a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team and a dog squad to assist with the investigation.
Police teams are also conducting raids to identify and apprehend those responsible for the killing.
DSP Sanjay Kumar Sinha said the investigation was underway and that additional vigilance had been maintained in the area following the incident.
“The police are actively investigating, and the case will be solved as soon as possible. We are maintaining extra vigilance to calm the villagers’ outrage and ensure peace and order in the area.”

Villagers Demand Swift Action
The killing has angered family members and residents, who have demanded a scientific investigation and the immediate arrest of the perpetrators.
Villagers described Dr Gulzar as sociable and said he had no disputes with anyone.
“We demand that the police call in a dog squad to investigate the matter. The case must be solved quickly, and the culprits arrested. Dr Gulzar had no disputes with anyone.”
Residents also recalled an earlier incident in the same area in which a man identified as Mohammad Riyasat was allegedly shot dead after assailants entered his home.
The two incidents have added to concerns among residents about safety in the locality, with villagers seeking strict police action.
