Patna: Bihar is experiencing sharply contrasting weather conditions, with cloudy skies in Patna coinciding with rising daytime heat in several other districts.
In the capital, light cloud cover and relatively stable temperatures have offered some relief, even as other parts of the state reported maximum temperatures climbing above 32C. The divergence between cooler nights and increasingly warm afternoons is beginning to affect daily routines.
Maximum temperatures across Bihar ranged between 29C and 33C over the weekend. Cities including Gaya, Purnia and Muzaffarpur saw residents avoiding the midday sun, with markets remaining subdued during the hottest hours. In rural areas, farmers shifted work to the early mornings and evenings, leaving fields quieter during the afternoon heat.
Forbesganj recorded the highest temperature in the state on Sunday at 32.2C. Madhubani and Muzaffarpur registered temperatures around 27C, while Patna recorded a slight dip to 28.8C. Bhagalpur also experienced minor fluctuations.
Night-time temperatures have dropped in some districts, adding to the sense of seasonal transition. Sabour in Bhagalpur recorded the state’s lowest minimum temperature at 12.6C, while Kishanganj also saw a sharp decline overnight. Residents in several areas reported a mild chill in the early morning.
The India Meteorological Department said Patna was likely to remain lightly cloudy on Monday, with little chance of rainfall. Winds are expected to blow gently from the northwest, and conditions are forecast to remain dry.
Forecasters predict that maximum temperatures will gradually rise over the next three to four days, with several cities likely to approach 35C. Evenings are expected to remain comparatively cooler, while a mild chill may persist in the mornings.
