Patna: Bihar’s government is stepping up efforts to promote entrepreneurship and innovation, with Industry Minister Dr Dilip Kumar Jaiswal directing officials to create a more conducive environment for startups in the state.
On Wednesday, Dr Jaiswal convened a review meeting with representatives from the state’s 22 incubation centres. Department Secretary Kundan Kumar, Industry Director Mukul Kumar Gupta, and other senior officials attended the meeting.
The review highlighted that 90 students and startups have been selected so far through these incubation centres, which have also conducted thousands of mentorship sessions in collaboration with institutions such as Bihar Agricultural University Sabour, IIT, CIMP, and Amity University, Patna. More than 300 mentors currently provide technical, managerial, and market-related guidance to startups across the state.
Dr Jaiswal emphasised the need to strengthen the mentorship ecosystem further, ensuring that emerging entrepreneurs have access to continuous and high-quality support.
He also directed officials to prepare a detailed report based on a comparative study of the most successful startup ecosystems in India. The aim is to implement proven practices in Bihar, with representatives from state incubation centres visiting leading centres across the country.
“The government will provide all forms of financial and non-financial support to incubation centres to promote innovation and entrepreneurship,” Dr Jaiswal said. He added that the Industry Department would ensure full backing for infrastructure development, technical facilities, mentorship, training, and the overall startup ecosystem.
