Patna: The Bihar government has recommended financial assistance worth Rs. 4.41 crore for 77 startups under its Startup Bihar initiative, officials said.
The move is aimed at encouraging innovation and strengthening entrepreneurship in the state through financial and institutional support.
Pitching round held in Patna
A personal interaction and pitching round was organised at Vikas Bhawan in Patna between May 20 and 25, where startups from different sectors presented their business ideas and projects.
According to the industries department, 77 startups were selected for various financial assistance schemes following the evaluation process.
Funding approved in multiple categories
Officials said 26 startups have been recommended for the first instalment of assistance under the programme, with each set to receive Rs four lakh.
Another 46 startups have been selected for the second instalment and are expected to receive Rs six lakh each.
Under the post-seed fund support scheme, four startups have been recommended for assistance of Rs. 15 lakh each.
In addition, one startup has been selected for reimbursement support under the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) scheme for patent-related expenses.
Focus on entrepreneurship ecosystem
The state government said the Startup Bihar initiative extends beyond direct financial support and includes mentorship, incubation facilities and infrastructure assistance for entrepreneurs.
Officials said the programme is intended to encourage young people to build enterprises and generate employment opportunities.
Bihar sees rise in startup activity
The industries department said the number of startups in Bihar has increased steadily in recent years, with investor interest also growing.
Officials attributed the trend to policy support, institutional collaboration and participation by young entrepreneurs, adding that Bihar is positioning itself as an emerging startup hub.
The initiative is also part of the state government’s “Bihar Hai Taiyar” campaign, which focuses on industrial growth, innovation and job creation.
