Patna: The Bihar government has ordered a comprehensive inquiry into all Madrasas and Sanskrit schools operating across the state, in a move aimed at increasing transparency and identifying institutions allegedly functioning in violation of regulations.
Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari announced that the investigation would cover schools affiliated with both the Madrasa Board and the Sanskrit Education Board. He said the government would not tolerate fraud in the name of education and stressed that action would be taken against institutions found to be operating illegally.
Inquiry to Cover All Affiliated Institutions
According to the Education Department, the inquiry will assess institutions operating under the two boards across Bihar. The minister said the initiative was intended to strengthen the education system while ensuring equal attention to both Madrasa and Sanskrit education.
Tiwari stated that the government was committed to promoting educational institutions that function in accordance with prescribed standards and regulations.
Focus on Enrolment, Infrastructure and Grants
Officials said the investigation would examine several operational aspects of schools, including student enrolment records, teacher attendance, infrastructure and the utilisation of government grants.
The inquiry will also assess whether institutions are complying with operational norms laid down by the department.
According to officials, the exercise is intended to verify whether schools receiving state support are functioning genuinely and maintaining required standards.
Fake Institutions to Face Action
The Education Minister said inquiry reports would be reviewed at the ministerial level once submitted. Institutions found to be fraudulent or operating in violation of rules could face closure.
He added that the government’s focus was on supporting legitimate institutions while preventing misuse of public resources.
District-Level Teams to Conduct Verification
Following the announcement, officials from the state headquarters to district-level offices have been placed on alert. Sources in the department said special teams are expected to be constituted to carry out inspections and verification exercises.
Detailed operational guidelines for the inquiry are also being prepared to ensure uniformity and transparency during the process.
Government Emphasises Transparency
The state government said the campaign was not aimed at targeting any particular category of institutions, but at strengthening accountability within the education system.
Department officials maintained that promoting genuine institutions and identifying irregularities would help improve the quality and credibility of education in Bihar.
