Patna: The Bihar government has released stipend funds for the 2026–27 academic year, directing financial support to students enrolled in paramedical institutes, as well as Ayurvedic and homeopathic colleges across the state. The move is expected to benefit hundreds of students pursuing healthcare education.
According to officials in the state health department, allocations have been made in proportion to student enrolment at each institution. Among the beneficiaries, the paramedical institute at Sadar Hospital in East Champaran has received Rs 8.25 lakh, while Chhapra has been allocated Rs 6.60 lakh. Similar institutes in Supaul, Khagaria, Madhubani and Bhabhua have each been granted Rs 8.25 lakh.
Further allocations include Rs 9.90 lakh for the Rajapakar paramedical institute in Vaishali, Rs 4.95 lakh for Ghosi in Jehanabad, Rs 13.20 lakh for Makhdumpur in Sheikhpura and Rs 10.89 lakh for Katihar. Institutions in West Champaran and Purnia have received Rs 8.25 lakh and Rs 9.24 lakh respectively, while Motihari has been allocated Rs 13.20 lakh.
Separate funding has also been directed towards traditional medicine colleges. An Ayurvedic college in Begusarai has been granted Rs 9.90 lakh, while a homeopathic college in Muzaffarpur has received Rs 2.77 crore.
In addition, the government has released funds to cover stipends for 81 auxiliary nurse midwife (ANM) students and 30 general nursing and midwifery (GNM) students.
Officials said the initiative is intended to strengthen financial support for healthcare trainees and improve retention in medical education. The state government has indicated that investing in student stipends is part of a broader effort to build a stronger pipeline of trained professionals for Bihar’s healthcare system.
