Nawada: A police sub-inspector in Bihar has been arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000, the Vigilance Investigation Bureau confirmed on Friday.
Pramod Kumar Patel, posted at Akbarpur police station in Nawada district, was apprehended red-handed while allegedly taking the money from a complainant seeking to prevent the arrest of relatives.
According to the Vigilance Investigation Bureau, Vikas Kumar Patel had filed a complaint alleging that the officer demanded a bribe to help with a case diary and to stop the arrest of his brother-in-law and nephew in connection with Akbarpur police station case number 484/25. Following the complaint, a covert inquiry verified the allegations, prompting a trap operation.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Gautam Krishna led the special team that arrested Patel at the police station gate, recovering the full bribe amount.
“This is the second corruption FIR registered in 2026 and the first red-handed arrest of the year,” the Vigilance Investigation Bureau said. Patel is expected to be produced before the Special Court (Vigilance) in Patna following questioning.
