Nawada/Kaimur/Patna:With summer holidays underway, a number of nature tourism destinations across Bihar are seeing increased visitor interest. Among the most frequented sites are Kakolat Falls in Nawada district, Tutla Bhawani Waterfall in Rohtas and Telhar Kund in Kaimur, which offer opportunities for sightseeing, recreation and outdoor activities.
Kakolat Falls attracts summer visitors
Located amid forested hills in Nawada district, Kakolat Falls is one of Bihar’s best-known summer destinations. Water descends from a height of around 160 feet into a natural pool and remains relatively cool throughout the year.
The waterfall is fed by water seeping through surrounding hills and forests before collecting below. During the summer season, the site receives large numbers of visitors.

Visitor facilities
Authorities have installed railings, safety ropes and protective barriers around the waterfall. Iron mesh has also been placed along stairways to reduce the risk of accidents from falling rocks.
Facilities at the site include separate changing rooms for men and women, food stalls, toilets and a children’s park.

Entry and access
Entry costs Rs 10 on weekdays and Rs 20 on weekends.
The nearest railway station is Nawada. Visitors can reach the falls by taxi or auto-rickshaw from the station, while road connectivity from Patna and other nearby cities allows travel within approximately four to five hours.
Tutla Bhawani developed as eco-tourism site
Tutla Bhawani Waterfall is located around 20 kilometres south-west of Dehri-on-Sone in Rohtas district. The waterfall drops about 180 feet into a valley flanked by two hills, through which the Kachuar River flows.
A temple dedicated to Tutla Bhawani stands near the waterfall, with a Durga idol installed on a raised platform accessible by stairs.

Tourism infrastructure
The Bihar Forest Department has developed the area as an eco-tourism destination. Infrastructure includes improved road access, a suspension bridge and e-rickshaw services for visitors.
Entry and access
The entry fee is Rs 30 per person. Visitors generally spend up to three hours exploring the site.
Sasaram is the nearest railway station, with taxis and local transport available for onward travel. The waterfall is also accessible by road.
Telhar Kund offers nature and trekking opportunities
Situated in Kaimur district, Telhar Kund is surrounded by forests and hills and is known for its natural landscape. The site attracts visitors for picnics, photography and trekking.
The waterfall is fed by the Suvarn River, which originates in the Adhaura region, along with seasonal streams from nearby hills.
Biodiversity and nearby attractions
The area is noted for its biodiversity, birdlife and scenic surroundings. Temples, forts and other natural landmarks nearby contribute to its appeal, particularly during the monsoon when water flow increases.
How to reach
Kaimur is approximately 200 kilometres from Patna and is connected through National Highway 30 via Ara.
The nearest railway station is Mohania, from where taxis are available to reach the waterfall.
