Patna: The Revenue and Land Reforms Department has taken strict action against striking survey staff, blocking the logins of 10,775 employees, including 446 assistant settlement officers, 656 kanungos, 8,759 amins and 914 clerks. The department has directed all striking workers to return government documents to their respective zonal offices without delay.
The decision was announced after the Additional Chief Secretary held a video conference with additional collectors (revenue) and settlement officers across the districts. Officials have been instructed to prepare an updated list of employees on strike and to issue show-cause notices by email no later than Tuesday.
The department clarified that once updated lists are received, the logins of non-striking workers will be reactivated. At the same time, termination proceedings against striking employees will begin from Wednesday.
Officials said the measures were necessary to ensure that public welfare programmes such as the Revenue Maha-Abhiyan were not disrupted. The campaign, which began on August 16 and will continue until September 20, aims to deliver copies of the Jamabandi register and application forms to households, while also holding two panchayat-level camps to collect applications from farmers.
To maintain momentum despite the strike, the department has sought the cooperation of the Rural Development Department, Scheduled Castes and Tribes Welfare Department, Panchayati Raj Department, Education Department and Social Welfare Department.
In particular, the department has requested the support of Tola Sevaks and Talimi Markaz workers from the Education Department to assist in distributing forms, while Anganwadi workers have been asked to join Jamabandi distribution teams due to their strong local networks.
Officials stressed that these alternative arrangements were designed to ensure that farmers’ issues are addressed promptly and that the Revenue Maha-Abhiyan proceeds without disruption.
