Patna:The Bihar government has launched a statewide drive to update the profiles of nearly six lakh teachers working in government schools on the e-Shikshakosh portal, setting June 5 as the deadline for completion.
The education department said the exercise is intended to improve transparency and strengthen administrative efficiency in the school education system. Officials described the deadline as the final opportunity for teachers whose profiles have not yet been updated.
District Officials Assigned Responsibility
The department has directed all District Education Officers (DEOs) and District Programme Officers (Establishment) to ensure that teacher profiles in their respective districts are updated within the stipulated timeframe.
According to the department, each teacher profile must contain 54 mandatory data fields. These include registration details, posting information, personal particulars, and permanent and current address records.
Teachers who find errors in their registration, service records or personal information have been asked to submit a written application to the District Programme Officer. After verification, corrections will be made within 48 hours, the department said.
Address Verification and Document Uploads
Officials said around 75% of teachers’ permanent address details have already been uploaded to the portal.
Teachers can verify the information through their login credentials and make necessary corrections relating to district, block, panchayat, post office, pin code, village, ward number and house number. They will also be required to enter their residential certificate number and upload a copy of the certificate on the portal.
Summer Camps Launched for Foundational Learning
Separately, the education department has begun a large-scale summer camp programme across Bihar from Monday to strengthen foundational learning among schoolchildren.
The camps will be organised in around 80,000 villages and hamlets for students of Classes V and VI, with a focus on improving language and mathematics skills.
Under the programme, approximately 80,000 volunteers have been deployed across the state. Each volunteer will work with a group of 10 to 15 children and conduct daily learning sessions of about 90 minutes using ASER learning tools.
Volunteers Trained for Programme
Education Sevaks, Talimi Markaz instructors and volunteers selected from middle schools will participate in the initiative. The department said two to three volunteers have been chosen from each middle school and will provide teaching support without remuneration.
All volunteers have received training before the start of the programme, officials added.
Camps to Continue Until June 30
Camp locations have been selected based on student numbers and accessibility. The programme will run until June 30.
Alongside academic support, the camps will include storytelling, reading activities, sports and other creative exercises aimed at improving children’s learning outcomes and engagement.
The education department said the initiative is expected to help address foundational learning gaps and prepare students for the new academic session. It added that the teacher profile update drive will provide an accurate and updated database of educators across the state, supporting administrative planning and governance.
