Patna : Bihar government teachers will soon be able to resolve departmental issues without repeatedly visiting education offices. The Education Department is preparing to launch the Teacher Support Portal on September 5, Teachers’ Day, to provide an online mechanism for submitting and monitoring teachers’ requests and complaints.
The portal will allow teachers to register their issues using their individual IDs. At present, teachers often have to visit the concerned offices to submit applications and follow up on their complaints. The new system aims to bring the entire process online and reduce the need for repeated visits.
Complaints to be resolved within 30 days
One of the key features of the portal is a 30-day deadline for resolving teachers’ grievances. Applications will move through different administrative levels, including the Block Education Officer, District Education Officer and Regional Education Officer, before reaching the directorate when required.
If a complaint is not resolved within the prescribed time limit, action may be taken against the officer responsible for the delay.
Applications to be monitored at headquarters
The Education Department will regularly monitor applications received through the portal at the headquarters level. Officials will be able to track where an application is pending and assess the progress of its disposal.
Time limits will also be fixed for processing applications at different levels and forwarding them to the next authority.
Leave applications can also be submitted online
Teachers will also be able to submit leave applications through the portal. The concerned authority will have to take a decision on such applications within two days.
The platform will also accept applications related to teachers’ financial matters, including pending arrears and other payment-related issues.
According to Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari, the Teacher Support Portal is being designed to function like a digital support camp for teachers. The initiative is expected to make the grievance-redressal process more transparent, time-bound and convenient while reducing teachers’ dependence on physical visits to departmental offices.
