Patna: Around 52,000 government teachers in Bihar reportedly have incomplete or incorrect information on the e-Shiksha Kosh portal, raising concerns over several service-related processes. The missing or inaccurate data could affect transfer and posting, promotions, salary increments and other administrative matters.
The Education Department has been working to update teachers’ records on the portal for some time. Despite repeated reminders, the profiles of a significant number of teachers are yet to be completed.
Several details missing from teachers’ records
Different types of discrepancies have reportedly been found in teachers’ online records. In some cases, details such as date of birth and joining date are incomplete or inconsistent.
Information related to Aadhaar, PAN, educational qualifications, residence and caste is also reportedly missing or not properly matched in some records.
Incomplete data can make it difficult for the department to map records and prepare required databases or scores. This could subsequently affect processes such as school allocation and teacher transfers.
Data update pending in several districts
The record-updating process is reportedly progressing slowly in several districts of north and eastern Bihar.
In Patna, the transfer of around 5,500 teachers is reportedly pending amid issues related to classification between urban and rural areas. In Katihar, discrepancies involving the joining dates and salary slips of around 5,200 teachers have reportedly been identified.
In Gaya, data of around 4,500 teachers is reportedly pending at the block level. Meanwhile, service records of around 4,000 teachers in East Champaran are reportedly marked as “not found”. In Muzaffarpur, the roster and subject-wise mapping of around 3,000 teachers is yet to be completed.
Teachers required to update biodata
Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari has stated that teachers must update their biodata on the e-Shiksha Kosh portal. Teachers are required to provide accurate information, including their subject-wise qualifications and family details, along with other relevant service information.
To address technical difficulties, the department has deployed nodal DPOs and technical assistants in the districts. A process is also being followed to update records within 48 hours after verification of service books.
Teachers are therefore advised to check their e-Shiksha Kosh profiles and ensure that all required information is complete and accurate to avoid potential difficulties in future service-related processes.
