Patna: Bihar Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit has set an ambitious December 25 deadline for all departments to prepare lists of individuals who have excelled in their fields, as the state government intensifies its efforts to position Bihar as the next major tech centre in eastern India.
The Chief Secretary said the state was counting on talented Biharis in India and abroad to contribute to this vision. “There are many people from Bihar making a name for themselves globally. We need such people to support the development of Bihar,” Amrit said.
He added that the Nitish Kumar government was “making every possible effort” to develop the state as a technology hub and that the response from investors had been encouraging. During last Thursday’s Industry Dialogue, several entrepreneurs and investors reportedly expressed strong interest in exploring opportunities in Bihar.
‘Now or never’ push for New Age Economy
The remarks came after a crucial high-level meeting chaired by Amrit on Tuesday to accelerate plans to build Bihar as the centre of a “New Age Economy” and a leading tech hub in the region. Opening the meeting with the mantra “now or never,” the Chief Secretary stressed the urgency of executing the state’s roadmap.
pic.twitter.com/s0TBop95lI

The meeting reviewed action plans arising from cabinet decisions taken on November 25 concerning the Departments of Industries and Information Technology. Among the key objectives endorsed by the cabinet were:
- developing Bihar as the new tech hub of eastern India;
- establishing the state as a global back-end hub and “global workplace” under the New Age Economy;
- encouraging young entrepreneurs to pursue employment-oriented opportunities in start-ups and emerging-tech sectors within the state;
- launching an Artificial Intelligence Mission to position Bihar as a leader in AI.
Amrit issued instructions to ensure the successful rollout of the AI mission and related initiatives.
High-level committee to oversee implementation
A high-level committee chaired by the Chief Secretary will supervise the formulation and implementation of these plans. Senior officials from the Industries, Finance, Agriculture and Information Technology departments will serve as members, while the Additional Chief Secretary or Principal Secretary of the Industries Department will act as the committee’s Member Secretary.
Amrit directed all member departments to work in coordination and maintain momentum to meet the state’s tech-sector ambitions.
