Bihar Hosts National Conference On Skill Development To Bridge Industry Gap

Patna: A major push for skill development in Bihar was announced at the ‘National Conference of Skill Development’ held in Patna today. Organized by the Labor Resources Department of the Government of Bihar and Bihar Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development (BIPARD) Skill Park, the conference brought together government officials, skill development experts, and representatives from leading institutions.

Dr. B. Rajender, Additional Chief Secretary, General Administration Department, inaugurated the event and revealed ambitious plans to train over 20 lakh youth in market-driven skills. To achieve this, the government will establish 8,000 new training centers across the state.

“Quality training is not possible without skilled trainers,” stated Dr. Rajender, emphasizing the need for industry-aligned syllabuses and training modules. He assured that the focus will be on equipping youth with modern technology skills to enhance their employability not just within Bihar, but also nationally and internationally.

Deepak Anand, Secretary of the Labor Resources Department, highlighted the potential of Bihar’s youth, stating, “The youth of Bihar have always excelled in competitive examinations and possess the capability to showcase their skills globally.” He reiterated the government’s commitment to providing modern technical training that aligns with market demands.

The government is also exploring the establishment of state-of-the-art skill development centers modeled after the World Skill Center, aiming to provide international-level training and industry exposure to Bihar’s youth. This initiative, under the Bihar Skill Development Mission (BSDM), seeks to enhance employment opportunities and strengthen the state’s economy.

Rajiv Ranjan, Additional Chief Executive Officer of BSDM, highlighted the growing participation of women in entrepreneurship and skill development. He outlined efforts to empower women through self-employment initiatives and technical skill training. Collaboration with 16 other departments to offer employment-oriented courses and partnerships with organizations like Tata Tech to provide ITI students with industry-relevant training were also discussed.
