Patna: Patna is getting ready for the rainy season by installing a total of 364 water pumps across the city. These pumps will help drain out rainwater quickly and prevent waterlogging in low-lying areas. The city now has 56 permanent drainage pumping stations (DPS) and 36 temporary ones, especially built in flood-prone areas like Danapur and other parts of Patna.
To boost drainage in large and sensitive areas, trolley-mounted pumps have been installed. Khanpur and Barmukta each have 8 of these pumps, while the Digha Canal area has 16. These mobile pumps are meant to quickly remove water from places where there is no fixed drainage system.
Zone-wise, Azimabad has 7 DPSs with 33 pumps, Kankarbagh has 46, Bankipur has 35, Patliputra has 36, and Nutan Rajdhani has the most with 105 pumps. Of the 364 total pumps, 265 run on electricity and 99 are diesel-powered. All pumps have been checked and are ready to be used.
The authorities have also made sure that all the materials needed to run these pumps are available. This includes fuel, power supply, and tools for repairs if needed. With these steps, the city hopes to avoid waterlogging and make the monsoon season safer and more comfortable for residents.
