Patna: The Bihar government has announced a set of 10 decisions concerning the TRE-4 teacher recruitment examination and other competitive examinations, following protests and demands raised by students.
The decisions include conducting the TRE-4 recruitment examination in a single phase, taking steps towards greater transparency in recruitment examinations, initiating action on pending recruitment processes and preparing a calendar for examinations conducted by the Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC).
Following discussions on the demands, the student representatives unanimously decided to withdraw their agitation.
TRE-4 Exam to Be Conducted in Single Phase
One of the key decisions concerns the TRE-4 teacher recruitment process. The government has accepted the demand for conducting a single examination for the recruitment process.
A decision will also be taken according to the applicable rules regarding the principle of “one candidate, one result.”
High Court Judge-Led Committee on Examination Reforms
The government has decided to constitute a committee headed by a judge of the Patna High Court to examine issues related to examination reforms.
Complainants will be allowed to present their evidence and suggestions before the committee. Further action will be taken in accordance with the committee’s recommendations.
The proposed committee will also examine issues connected with the 70th BPSC examination, the recruitment examination for 1,799 posts of sub-inspector, and the Bihar Eligibility Test (BET) in the context of assistant professor recruitment.
1,799 Sub-Inspector Recruitment to Await Committee Report
The government has decided that the further process related to the 1,799-post sub-inspector recruitment examination will proceed only after the committee submits its report.
The move is intended to address concerns raised over the examination and ensure that subsequent action follows the findings of the inquiry.
BSSC to Issue Recruitment Calendar
The Bihar Staff Selection Commission has been directed to take steps towards issuing a recruitment examination calendar at the earliest.
The government has also agreed to the demand that recruitment examinations be conducted according to the announced schedule and that the calendar be strictly followed.
Library Recruitment Process to Begin
The government has also decided to initiate necessary action for the recruitment of librarians according to the available vacancies.
The process is expected to begin soon in line with the number of sanctioned vacancies.
Contract Workers’ Weightage Under Review
A high-level committee will examine the issue of providing marks or weightage to contractual employees in Bihar government recruitment processes.
The committee will consider whether a separate quota should be created in cases where such weightage is provided, taking into account existing government provisions.
Domicile Policy and Age Limit to Be Examined
The government has agreed to initiate further action regarding the demand for a stronger domicile policy in Bihar’s recruitment processes, based on legal advice received from experts.
The issue of the maximum age limit for recruitment examinations will also be placed before the committee for consideration.
Transparency in Question Papers and OMR Sheets
Another major decision concerns greater transparency in competitive examinations.
A proposal will be placed before the High Court judge-led committee to ensure transparency regarding question papers, OMR sheets and answer sheets in recruitment examinations conducted by the state, on the lines of the standards expected in BPSC examinations.
Probe into Alleged Paper Leaks
The government also stated that necessary action is being taken according to the rules regarding allegations of paper leaks in examinations including the BPSC AEDO and sanitary inspector examinations.
The government reiterated its commitment to ensuring that competitive examinations in Bihar are conducted in a transparent, fair and accountable manner.
Student Protest Ends
Following the discussions and announcement of the decisions, the student representatives unanimously decided to end their agitation.
The government has also decided to cancel the related departmental order with immediate effect, according to the announcement.
The decisions are expected to have implications for candidates preparing for TRE-4, BPSC, BSSC and other recruitment examinations in Bihar, particularly with regard to examination schedules, transparency and recruitment procedures.
