Patna: Bihar’s education authorities are set to overhaul the BPSC TRE-4 teacher recruitment process with the introduction of a “one candidate, one result” policy, a move designed to reduce duplicate selections across multiple school levels. Under the new system, candidates will be selected for only one teaching level—primary, middle, or secondary—preventing a single applicant from occupying multiple merit-list positions, a practice that had contributed to widespread vacancies.
Education officials say the change will benefit thousands of young aspirants who previously missed out on positions by narrow margins, ensuring a fairer and more transparent selection process. “This is a significant step towards providing equitable employment opportunities to the state’s youth,” an official said.
The TRE-4 recruitment will fill approximately 44,000 teaching posts: 19,000 for classes 1 to 8, 12,000 for classes 9 and 10, and 13,000 for classes 11 and 12. Special attention is being given to subjects in high demand, including mathematics, science, English, and commerce. The existing 35 percent reservation for female residents of Bihar will continue.
The state government is reportedly working on a roster to improve the teacher-student ratio, following more than 225,000 appointments over the past two years. With continued shortages, the TRE-4 recruitment process has been expedited. The Bihar Public Service Commission is expected to release the official notification shortly under instructions from the Education Minister.
Education experts and aspiring teachers have welcomed the reform, calling it a “long-awaited step” towards a more efficient and transparent recruitment system.
