Rohtas: Three people were killed and one critically injured after a truck collided head-on with an auto-rickshaw on the Tilautu-Dehri National Highway, authorities said. The victims, including an uncle, his niece, and nephew, were travelling home to celebrate Dussehra when the crash occurred near an old petrol pump.
Eyewitnesses described the collision as “extremely violent,” with bystanders witnessing the aftermath. The injured passenger was rushed to a private hospital in Dehri, where doctors said he remains in critical condition on a ventilator.
Police have taken the truck driver into custody and recovered the bodies for post-mortem examination. Investigations are ongoing, focusing on driver negligence and the roadworthiness of both vehicles. Authorities have also implemented traffic diversions along the highway.
Road safety experts said the accident highlights ongoing concerns over speeding and poor enforcement of traffic regulations in the region.
