Patna: Former political strategist and Jan Suraaj party founder Prashant Kishor on Monday hit back at critics by publicly disclosing details of his earnings, insisting that allegations over the funding of his political activities are unfounded.
Kishor said that since 2021 he has earned Rs 241 crore through consultancy services, out of which he has paid Rs 30.95 crore in GST and Rs 20 crore in income tax. He added that he has donated Rs 98.75 crore to the Jan Suraaj party to fund its activities, including his statewide padyatra launched four years ago.
Seeking to dispel rumours of undisclosed funding, Kishor cited consultancy deals as the source of his wealth. “For example, I earned Rs 11 crore from Navyuga Constructions for two hours of consultancy during a product launch,” he told reporters in Patna.
“I am getting this money for providing my skills and expertise, not for any corrupt action as being done by the corrupt politicians and officers,” he said. “I want to put all these allegations to rest and claim that I am a Bihari who is putting all his earnings for the better future of the state and would continue to do the same.”
The statement comes as Kishor attempts to frame Jan Suraaj as a credible alternative in Bihar’s political landscape, while facing sustained criticism from rivals over how his movement has been financed.
