Patna: The weather pattern in Bihar has changed, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a yellow alert for light rainfall and lightning in eight districts of the state on Wednesday. Wind speeds of up to 40 km/h are also likely in these areas. However, weather conditions are expected to remain normal in most other districts.

According to the Meteorological Centre, Patna is likely to witness partly cloudy skies during the day. Sunshine is also expected, which may lead to humid conditions for residents. The department has indicated that the weather across the state is likely to return to normal after March 11.

Over the past 24 hours, Begusarai and Jehanabad witnessed light cloud cover during the morning hours, while fog was reported in Nalanda.

Weather normal in 30 districts

Weather conditions are expected to remain normal in about 30 districts of the state. No warning has been issued for major districts including Patna, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Bhagalpur, Gaya, Bhojpur, Rohtas, Nalanda and Purnia. Residents in these areas are likely to experience typical weather conditions along with a gradual rise in temperature.

Minimum temperature around 19°C in parts of Bihar

During the last 24 hours, the lowest minimum temperature in the state was recorded at 19.7 degrees Celsius in Madhepura. Madhubani recorded a minimum temperature of 19.9 degrees Celsius, while Aurangabad and Valmikinagar both recorded 20.4 degrees Celsius. In Patna, the minimum temperature stood at 24 degrees Celsius.

Advisory for residents

The Meteorological Department has advised residents in districts where rain and lightning are expected to remain alert. Farmers working in fields, people staying in open areas and those standing near electric poles or under trees have been urged to exercise caution and avoid such places during thunderstorms.
