Patna: Weather conditions across Bihar are expected to deteriorate between May 4 and May 6, with forecasts indicating thunderstorms, heavy rain, lightning and gusty winds across several districts.
The India Meteorological Department’s Patna centre has warned that wind speeds could reach 50–60 km/h in some areas, advising residents to remain cautious.
Orange Alert Across North And East Bihar
An orange alert has been issued for May 4 in districts including West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Purnia, Bhagalpur and Munger, among others.
Officials said these areas are likely to witness intense weather activity, including thunderstorms, lightning and isolated hailstorms.
Yellow Alert In Central And South Districts
A yellow alert has been issued for districts including Patna, Gaya, Nalanda, Bhojpur and Rohtas, where moderate rainfall and gusty winds are expected.
The IMD said while the intensity may be lower in these regions, adverse weather conditions could still disrupt normal life.

Unsettled Weather To Persist
The department said unstable conditions will continue through May 6, with orange alerts extending to several districts in both northern and southern Bihar.
Rainfall accompanied by strong winds and thunder is expected to impact large parts of the state, while yellow alerts will remain in place in adjoining districts.
Advisory For Residents
Authorities have urged residents to avoid open areas during thunderstorms and take precautions against lightning strikes and strong winds.
The current weather pattern is attributed to active pre-monsoon conditions, which are expected to bring intermittent spells of rain and storms over the coming days.
Officials said the conditions may offer temporary relief from rising temperatures but could also pose risks due to sudden weather changes.
