Bihar Weather Alert: IMD Issues Orange And Yellow Warnings Across Several Districts From May 16-20

Patna: India Meteorological Department has issued a series of weather alerts for Bihar between May 16 and May 20, warning of possible thunderstorms, rainfall and strong winds across several districts.

According to the forecast issued by the Patna Meteorological Centre, Orange, Yellow and Green alerts will remain in force in different parts of the state over the coming days.

Orange Alert Issued For Multiple Districts On May 16

For May 16, the IMD has issued an Orange alert for several districts, including:

  • Siwan
  • Saran
  • Buxar
  • Bhojpur
  • Rohtas
  • Kaimur
  • Patna
  • Nalanda
  • Gaya
  • Begusarai

A Yellow alert has also been issued for several districts in North and East Bihar, including:

  • Sitamarhi
  • Madhubani
  • Darbhanga
  • Samastipur
  • Muzaffarpur
  • Vaishali
  • Saharsa
  • Purnia
  • Katihar
  • Araria
  • Kishanganj
  • Bhagalpur
  • Munger
  • Jamui

Weather To Improve In Parts Of South Bihar On May 17

The IMD said weather conditions were expected to remain relatively normal on May 17 in parts of South and Central Bihar, including:

  • Buxar
  • Bhojpur
  • Rohtas
  • Gaya
  • Nawada
  • Jamui
  • Patna
  • Nalanda

However, a Yellow alert will continue for many districts in North Bihar, including:

  • West Champaran
  • East Champaran
  • Gopalganj
  • Siwan
  • Muzaffarpur
  • Darbhanga
  • Madhubani
  • Samastipur

Green Alert For Many Districts On May 18

According to the forecast, May 18 is expected to bring relatively stable weather conditions across large parts of Bihar.

A Green alert has been issued for most districts in:

  • West Bihar
  • Central Bihar
  • South Bihar

Meanwhile, Yellow alerts will remain in effect for parts of East Bihar, including:

  • Purnia
  • Katihar
  • Kishanganj
  • Araria
  • Supaul
  • Madhepura
  • Saharsa

Yellow Alert Returns On May 19

On May 19, the IMD expects weather activity to intensify again in parts of North Bihar.

Yellow alerts have been issued for:

  • Sitamarhi
  • Madhubani
  • Darbhanga
  • Samastipur
  • Muzaffarpur
  • Vaishali
  • Khagaria
  • Saharsa
  • Supaul
  • Araria
  • Purnia
  • Katihar

Green alerts will continue across several districts in western and southern Bihar.

Orange Alert Again On May 20

The Patna Meteorological Centre said weather conditions could deteriorate again on May 20.

An Orange alert has been issued for large parts of:

  • West Bihar
  • Central Bihar
  • North Bihar

Yellow alerts will remain in force in parts of South-East Bihar and the Seemanchal region.

No Red alert has been issued during the forecast period.

Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious regarding:

  • strong winds
  • rainfall
  • rapidly changing weather conditions.
