Patna: Weather conditions in Bihar are expected to remain unsettled from August 16 to 18, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing orange and yellow alerts for several districts.
The forecast indicates thunderstorms, rainfall, lightning and strong winds of 30 to 40 km/h in affected areas. Several other districts have been placed under a green alert.
Orange Alert In Northwest Bihar On August 16
On August 16, weather activity is expected to be concentrated in northwest Bihar.
An orange alert has been issued for West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan and Saran, where thunderstorms, rainfall and strong winds of 30 to 40 km/h are possible.
A yellow alert is in place for Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Madhubani, Darbhanga and Samastipur.
No weather warning has been issued for several districts of south and east Bihar, including Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur and Purnia.
Patna Among Districts Under Orange Alert On August 17
On August 17, the weather system is expected to affect central and southern parts of the state.
An orange alert has been issued for Patna, Jehanabad, Gaya, Nalanda, Sheikhpura, Lakhisarai and Begusarai. These districts may experience rainfall and strong winds of 30 to 40 km/h.
A yellow alert has been issued for Buxar, Bhojpur, Rohtas, Kaimur, Aurangabad, Nawada, Jamui, Banka, Bhagalpur, Khagaria, Saharsa, Madhepura, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia and Katihar.
Most districts in northwest Bihar are expected to remain under the green zone on August 17.
Southwest Bihar Under Orange Alert On August 18
On August 18, adverse weather conditions are forecast mainly across southwest Bihar.
An orange alert has been issued for Kaimur, Rohtas, Buxar, Bhojpur and Aurangabad.
A yellow alert will cover Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Begusarai, Saran, Siwan, Gopalganj, Champaran, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Nalanda, Nawada, Jehanabad, Arwal, Sheikhpura and Lakhisarai.
Several Districts In Green Zone
The weather is expected to remain comparatively clear in several districts of east and northeast Bihar on August 18.
Supaul, Madhepura, Saharsa, Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia, Katihar, Bhagalpur, Jamui, Munger and Banka have been placed in the green zone.
Residents in districts under orange and yellow alerts are advised to follow updates issued by the IMD and local authorities, particularly during thunderstorms and periods of strong winds.
