Patna: Weather conditions across Bihar are set to change between April 29 and May 1, with the meteorological department forecasting thunderstorms, rainfall and strong winds in several districts.
According to the Patna Meteorological Centre, alerts of varying intensity—yellow, orange and green—have been issued across the state over the three-day period.
Alerts For April 29
A yellow alert has been issued for a large number of districts, including Patna, Muzaffarpur, Gaya and Vaishali, indicating the likelihood of thunderstorms and light to moderate rainfall.
An orange alert—signifying a higher level of risk—has been issued for districts such as Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia and Bhagalpur, among others.
Similar Conditions On April 30
The pattern is expected to continue on April 30, with yellow alerts extending across central and western districts, including Patna, Nalanda and Bhojpur.
Eastern and north-eastern districts remain under orange alert, where strong winds of 40–60 kmph, along with thunderstorms and lightning, are likely.

Relief Expected By May 1
Conditions are expected to improve in several districts by May 1, with a green alert—indicating no significant weather threat—issued for parts of south and central Bihar, including Patna, Gaya and Saran.
However, some districts in north and eastern Bihar will continue to remain under yellow alert, suggesting the possibility of light rainfall and isolated storms.
Advisory
Officials have advised residents to remain cautious during thunderstorms, particularly in districts under orange alert, and to avoid open areas during lightning activity.
The changing weather is expected to bring relief from recent heatwave conditions, though authorities have warned of potential disruptions due to strong winds and rain.
