For March 16, meteorologists have predicted storms and rainfall across most parts of the state, placing several districts under a yellow alert. The weather department has advised residents to stay updated with forecasts and exercise caution due to the risk of lightning and strong winds.
Conditions may improve slightly in some western districts on March 17, though light rainfall and gusty winds are expected to continue in parts of northern and eastern Bihar. Cloud cover and breezy conditions may also persist in areas including Patna.
Between March 18 and March 20, the IMD has warned of renewed thunderstorms and rainfall in parts of north-eastern Bihar, including Darbhanga, Samastipur, Khagaria, Saharsa and Madhepura.
The change in weather comes after a sharp rise in temperatures across the state. In recent days, maximum temperatures have crossed 35C in several districts. The highest temperature of 37.3C was recorded in Kaimur, followed by 37.1C in Gaya and 36.8C in Sheikhpura.
Temperatures of 36.4C were recorded in Aurangabad and 35.9C in Rajgir in Nalanda district.
The IMD said thunderstorms and rainfall could bring some relief from the heat, with temperatures likely to drop by 2C to 4C over the next few days.
