OPatna: A persistent cold wave continues to affect Bihar, with the meteorological department warning that weather conditions are unlikely to change significantly over the next three to four days. The Patna Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow alert for dense fog in East Champaran, West Champaran and Gopalganj, while light fog is expected in southern districts, including the state capital.
Westerly winds are sustaining the chill across the state, officials said, with cold conditions prevailing despite clear spells of sunshine. Visibility has been particularly poor in some areas, dropping to as low as 350 metres in Motihari.
Temperatures remained low on Friday, with Bhagalpur (Sabour) recording the lowest minimum temperature at 5.9C. Patna registered a minimum of 10.3C. Across Bihar, minimum temperatures ranged between 5.9C and 12.2C.
Daytime temperatures showed a slight rise in most districts, although the cold continued to be felt. Patna recorded a maximum temperature of 22.0C, while Kaimur was the warmest district at 25.4C. Maximum temperatures dipped in a few areas, including Buxar, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Nalanda, Pusa, Supaul and Sabour.
In major cities, Gaya recorded a maximum temperature of 23.3C and a minimum of 7.4C, while Bhagalpur saw temperatures ranging from 22.0C to 7.7C. Muzaffarpur recorded a high of 21.0C and a low of 10.0C.
Weather officials have advised residents, particularly motorists and commuters, to remain cautious during early morning hours due to reduced visibility caused by fog.
