Patna: Bihar is expected to remain largely dry over the coming days under the influence of prevailing westerly winds, with sunshine forecast across Patna and neighbouring areas, meteorologists said on Friday.
According to the Meteorological Centre in Patna, mornings and evenings will continue to feel slightly chilly, though there is no indication of a severe cold wave. Light fog may develop in parts of north Bihar, particularly during early morning hours, but visibility disruptions are expected to be limited.
Forecasters said there would be no major change in temperatures over the next five days, with only minor day-to-day fluctuations. While daytime conditions are likely to remain pleasant, cooler nights and mornings could persist into the first week of February.
A western disturbance is expected to become active over north-west India on January 26, which may bring some weather changes to Bihar later in the week. Under its influence, light rainfall is possible on January 29 in parts of north Bihar, including East and West Champaran, Siwan, Saran and Gopalganj. Skies over Patna and adjoining districts are likely to turn partly cloudy during this period.
The India Meteorological Department said that while a slight intensification of cold conditions could be felt in the final days of January and early February, this would not amount to a cold wave. Instead, the change is expected to be limited to cooler nights and early mornings.
With the arrival of Vasant Panchami, officials noted, the broader seasonal transition towards spring has begun, and the gradual retreat of winter conditions is already under way across much of the state.
