Patna: Bihar is set for a shift in weather patterns as moist winds are pulled in from the Bay of Bengal. The Patna Meteorological Center predicts that light drizzles will begin in isolated areas starting October 26, intensifying into widespread rainfall across the state on October 30 and 31.
Districts in the eastern and central regions are expected to see the most significant precipitation. Areas such as Jamui, Nawada, Banka, Kishanganj, and Araria are particularly likely to receive substantial rainfall, while parts of North Bihar will experience light or scattered showers.
Weather for Chhath Puja
The forecast suggests that the weather during the Chhath Mahaparva period (October 25 to 28) will be mostly favorable.
The Meteorological Department anticipates that temperatures will remain balanced and comfortable during the festival. Daytime highs are projected to hover between 29 and 31 degrees C. Mornings and evenings will feature a pleasant, slight chill with soft breezes. Importantly, the chance of disruptive rain during the four-day festival period remains low with forecast of isolated showers or cloudy skies from October 26.
Winter Arrives in November
The widespread rain at the end of October is expected to trigger a swift transition into the winter season. The Meteorological Center confirmed that the cold weather will set in during the first week of November.
The post-rain period will see a noticeable drop in daytime temperatures, with cold winds beginning to sweep through during the mornings and nights. This shift will be most pronounced immediately following the rainfall, signaling the official onset of the colder season.
In the state capital, the weather in Patna today (Thursday) will remain normal, with sunny skies and a maximum temperature between 31and 32 degrees C. However, a slight chill is expected to be felt by evening. The city’s skies will begin clouding over from October 26, and the projected rain on October 30 and 31 is expected to cause temperatures to drop by 2 to 3 degrees C in the capital.
