Patna: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall in five districts of Bihar for Thursday, July 23, as monsoon activity continues across the state. Thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds of up to 40 km/h are also expected in several regions.
The latest forecast by the Meteorological Centre, Patna, said light to moderate rainfall was recorded in most parts of south-central and south-eastern Bihar, along with several areas in north-west and north-east Bihar during the past 24 hours.
Heavy Rain Alert for Five Districts
The IMD has issued a heavy rainfall alert for Araria, Katihar, Kishanganj, Supaul and West Champaran.
These districts are also likely to witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds blowing at speeds of 30 to 40 km/h.
Rain Forecast Across Bihar
According to the weather department, rainfall is expected to be uneven across the state.
- North-west and North-central Bihar: Rain is likely at some places.
- North-east and South-east Bihar: Rain is likely at some places.
- South-west and South-central Bihar: Light rain is possible at one or two places.
Temperature to Remain Stable
The Meteorological Centre said there is no significant change expected in Bihar’s maximum temperatures over the next three to four days.
Daytime temperatures are likely to remain between 30°C and 34°C, even as monsoon conditions continue to influence weather across the state.
