Patna: The weather across Bihar is expected to remain dry with partly cloudy conditions in most regions, according to the Meteorological Centre in Patna. The weather department has forecast wind speeds of 30–40 km per hour during the next 24 hours.
Officials said temperatures are likely to rise by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius over the next two days. A warning has also been issued for thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds accompanied by light rainfall in several parts of the state on Tuesday.
In Patna and surrounding areas, strong winds along with light rain are expected. During the past 24 hours, wind speeds of around 30 km per hour were recorded in Arabari in Kishanganj district.
Rise in temperature recorded
On Sunday, dry weather conditions prevailed in Patna and many other districts, leading to a rise in temperatures in most parts of the state. Except for Motihari, Chhapra, Madhepura and Purnia, several districts including Patna recorded an increase in maximum temperatures.
Patna recorded a maximum temperature of 33.5 degrees Celsius, an increase of 3.4 degrees Celsius compared to the previous day. The highest temperature in the state was recorded at 37.5 degrees Celsius in Bhabua in Kaimur district.
Light rainfall was also reported from a few areas, including 1.6 mm in Patori in Samastipur district, 1.0 mm in Dighalbank in Kishanganj, 0.5 mm in Bhabua, 0.5 mm in Sheikhpura and 0.2 mm in Supaul.
According to the weather department, the influence of a western disturbance is likely to affect the northwestern parts of Bihar on April 2. Due to this system, some places in northern and southern parts of the state may experience thunderstorms and light rainfall on April 4.
Temperature in major cities
Patna recorded a maximum temperature of 33.5°C and a minimum of 21.4°C.
Gaya recorded a maximum of 35.8°C and a minimum of 19.4°C.
Bhagalpur recorded a maximum of 28.9°C and a minimum of 19.6°C.
Aurangabad recorded a maximum of 33.5°C and a minimum of 25.6°C.
The hottest day in the state was recorded in Gaya at 35.8°C, while Aurangabad reported the warmest night with a minimum temperature of 25.6°C.
