Patna: The monsoon has slowed slightly across Bihar, but the Meteorological Centre, Patna, has forecast heavy rainfall in three districts on Sunday, with strong winds and lightning likely in several other parts of the state.
East Champaran, West Champaran and Gaya are expected to receive heavy rain, according to the latest weather forecast.
The department has also warned of winds reaching 30–40 kmph and lightning in south-western, south-central and south-eastern districts.
Weather Conditions In Bihar
Light to moderate rainfall was recorded across most parts of Bihar during the past 24 hours, according to the Meteorological Centre.
Forbesganj in Araria recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 37.2°C. Motihari recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 25.5°C.
Weather Systems Affecting The State
A low-pressure area is active over the north-west Bay of Bengal, while the monsoon trough is extending towards the Bay of Bengal through several parts of the country.
A cyclonic circulation over eastern Uttar Pradesh is also influencing weather conditions in Bihar.
Advisory For Residents
The Meteorological Department has advised people to avoid open areas and stay away from tall trees during thunderstorms because of the risk of lightning.
Residents in areas expecting heavy rain have also been advised to remain cautious about waterlogging in low-lying areas and possible rises in river water levels.
