Patna: Bihar is set for three days of contrasting weather, with some districts likely to receive heavy rainfall while others remain largely dry, according to the latest forecast from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The weather department has issued yellow alerts for thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds across large parts of the state between July 28 and July 30, while Kishanganj and Katihar are expected to receive heavy rain on the final day of the forecast period.
July 28: Thunderstorms In Western And Eastern Bihar
For July 28, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Buxar, Bhojpur, Kaimur, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Khagaria, Munger, Jamui, Banka, Bhagalpur, Saharsa, Madhepura, Supaul, Araria, Purnia, Katihar and Kishanganj.
These districts are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and wind speeds of 30–40 kmph.
No weather warning has been issued for Patna, Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Madhubani, Nalanda, Nawada, Gaya, Jehanabad, Arwal, Sheikhpura, Lakhisarai and Begusarai, where conditions are expected to remain generally stable.
July 29: Alert Expands To Patna
The weather pattern is expected to shift on July 29, with the yellow alert extending to Patna, Gaya, Nalanda, Nawada, Arwal, Jehanabad, Sheikhpura, Lakhisarai and Begusarai.
Rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds are also forecast for the districts already under alert in western, southern and eastern Bihar.
Meanwhile, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Sitamarhi, Sheohar and Madhubani are expected to remain outside the warning zone.

July 30: Heavy Rain Likely In Seemanchal
The IMD has forecast the most intense weather for July 30, issuing a heavy rainfall alert for Kishanganj and Katihar in the Seemanchal region.
Residents in these districts have been advised to remain cautious as thunderstorms are also expected.
A yellow alert for lightning and light to moderate rainfall has also been issued for West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Buxar, Bhojpur, Kaimur, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Gaya, Nawada, Nalanda, Patna, Jehanabad, Arwal, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura and Begusarai.
No weather warning has been issued for Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Madhubani, Supaul, Saharsa, Madhepura, Purnia, Araria, Khagaria, Munger, Bhagalpur, Banka and Jamui.
The IMD has advised residents, particularly in districts under alert, to remain vigilant during thunderstorms and avoid open areas during periods of lightning and strong winds.
