Patna: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for several districts in Bihar, warning of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and strong winds over the coming hours.
Districts including Araria, Supaul, Kishanganj, Katihar, Bhagalpur and Banka have been placed under orange alert, with winds expected to reach speeds of 50–60 kmph.
A yellow alert has also been issued for districts such as Jamui, Madhepura, Purnia, Khagaria and Munger, where light to moderate rainfall, gusty winds and lightning are likely.
Meteorologists said most parts of the state could experience thunderstorms along with intermittent strong winds during the day.
The IMD has forecast a drop in maximum temperatures by 3–5C across several regions over the next 48 hours, followed by a gradual rise over the subsequent days. Minimum temperatures are also expected to fall by 1–4C during this period.

In Patna, which is under a yellow alert, light rain was recorded early in the morning, accompanied by cloudy skies. Cloud cover is expected to persist through the day.
A storm late on Friday night led to a minor incident at the Dak Bungalow crossing, where temporary structures set up for Ram Navami celebrations were affected. An LED installation mounted on bamboo scaffolding collapsed during the strong winds, though no injuries were reported.
Officials said the situation remained under control, even as weather conditions continue to fluctuate across the state.
