Patna: A sudden change in weather swept across Bihar on Ram Navami, bringing dust storms, rain and dark cloud cover to several districts, even as authorities issued alerts across the state.
Dust storms were reported in Chhapra, while dense cloud cover gathered over districts including Buxar and Kishanganj. Rainfall was recorded in Patna, marking a sharp shift from recent heat conditions.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a statewide alert covering all 38 districts. An orange alert has been declared in 12 districts, warning of severe weather conditions, while a yellow alert remains in place for the remaining 26 districts.
In areas under the orange alert, winds of up to 60 kmph are expected, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and heavy rainfall. Districts under the yellow alert may experience light to moderate rain along with the risk of lightning.

Meteorologists said the weather system is likely to remain active on March 27 and 28, when its impact is expected to be most intense.
Experts attributed the sudden shift to a combination of moisture-laden winds from the Bay of Bengal and the continued influence of a western disturbance, leading to increased atmospheric instability.
The interaction between rising daytime temperatures and cooler night-time winds has created conditions favourable for the rapid formation of clouds, thunderstorms and squalls.
Frequent changes in wind direction and the development of pressure systems have further intensified the likelihood of strong winds and hailstorms.
Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious during adverse weather conditions, particularly in areas vulnerable to lightning and strong winds.
