The Patna Meteorological Centre said dense cloud cover persisted over Patna, while thundershowers were reported in several parts of the state, including Bagaha and Rohtas.
Red Alert For Multiple Districts
According to nowcast warnings issued by the IMD, several districts are likely to experience severe thunderstorms, lightning and rainfall accompanied by gusty winds of 50–60 kmph within the next two to three hours.
The red alert covers districts including Arwal, Bhojpur, East Champaran, Jehanabad, Muzaffarpur, Patna, Saran, Sheohar, Sitamarhi and Vaishali.
A separate warning has also been issued for Nalanda, Nawada, Samastipur and Sheikhpura, where similar conditions are expected over the same time period.

The IMD said hailstorms are likely in parts of Bihar and neighbouring Jharkhand on May 4. Heavy rainfall has already been reported in Bagaha and Rohtas, while Siwan witnessed hail activity.
In Buxar, strong winds reaching speeds of up to 100 kmph were recorded, with further heavy rainfall expected.

Local Impact And Temperature Drop
In Gopalganj, heavy rain led to waterlogging on several roads, while skies remained overcast in districts such as Bettiah and Patna.
Officials said the shifting weather pattern has led to a drop in maximum temperatures, with most parts of the state currently recording between 34C and 38C.
Alerts Across The State
The IMD has issued a red alert for 15 districts and a yellow alert for 19 others, warning residents to remain cautious amid rapidly changing conditions.
Authorities have advised people to avoid open areas during lightning, stay indoors where possible and monitor official updates as the situation evolves.
