Patna: A sharp change in weather patterns has led to a significant drop in temperatures across Bihar, with widespread rainfall and gusty winds bringing a noticeable chill to the state.
According to meteorological data, the maximum temperature has fallen by as much as 13.6°C in some districts, while minimum temperatures have dropped by up to 5.4°C.
Heavy rainfall in several districts
Several regions recorded substantial rainfall, with Mohiuddinagar in Samastipur receiving 75.4mm, followed by Chhorahi in Begusarai at 72.6mm. Other areas, including Vibhutipur, Korha, Cheria Bariarpur and Pipra, also recorded rainfall exceeding 70mm.
Rainfall ranging from 10mm to 60mm was reported in multiple other parts of the state.
Significant fall in temperatures
The steepest drop in maximum temperature was recorded in Araria, followed by sharp declines in districts such as Sheikhpura, Motihari, Munger, Muzaffarpur and Bhagalpur.
Minimum temperatures also saw notable decreases, with Araria, Patna and Purnia recording the most significant dips.
Conditions in Patna
In the state capital, light to moderate rainfall was accompanied by winds reaching speeds of 50–55 km/h. Patna recorded 7.7mm of rainfall, leading to a drop of 8.9°C in maximum temperature and 5.3°C in minimum temperature.
The city’s temperature stood at 24.7°C during the day and 18.7°C at night.
Forecast ahead
The weather department has forecast partly cloudy skies for Patna in the coming days, with temperatures expected to rise gradually.
Despite the expected increase, the recent rainfall and winds have brought temporary relief from the early summer heat, creating cooler conditions across much of Bihar.
