Patna: The India Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rainfall warning for Bhabhua in Kaimur district and Kishanganj for Sunday, August 9, as the monsoon remains active over parts of Bihar.
A yellow alert for thunderstorms, lightning and rain has also been issued for 18 districts, including Ara and Bhagalpur.
The Meteorological Centre said the monsoon is likely to remain active over parts of the Kosi, Seemanchal, eastern and southern Bihar regions. However, widespread heavy rainfall is not expected, with relatively subdued monsoon activity forecast in Champaran, Mithilanchal, Patna and Magadh.
Heavy Rain Possible In Two Districts
Isolated thunderstorms, lightning and intense rainfall are possible in parts of north-eastern, south-western and south-eastern Bihar on August 9.
Heavy rainfall could occur at one or two locations in Bhabhua and Kishanganj, while scattered rain remains possible elsewhere.
The 18 districts under the yellow alert are Bhojpur, Buxar, Kaimur, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Arwal, Jamui, Banka, Bhagalpur, Munger, Khagaria, Saharsa, Madhepura, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia and Katihar.
Residents in these areas have been advised to remain alert to the possibility of lightning and sudden deterioration in weather conditions.
Partly Cloudy Weather In Patna
Patna is expected to experience mixed weather on Sunday, with partly cloudy skies and one or two spells of rain.
The maximum temperature in the capital is forecast to remain around 35°C, while the minimum temperature is likely to be about 28°C.
Temperatures Fall In Several Districts
Maximum temperatures declined in several parts of Bihar on Saturday.
Patna recorded 33.3°C, around one degree lower than the previous reading, while Gaya recorded 32.6°C, down by 0.8°C.
Kaimur recorded a maximum of 35.4°C, despite a decline of 1.6°C. Forbesganj in Araria also recorded 35.4°C.
Daytime temperatures also fell in Rajgir, Sheikhpura, Jehanabad, Arwal, Dehri, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, Motihari, Jiradei, Madhubani and Supaul.
Rain Recorded In Several Areas
The Meteorological Department recorded rainfall in several districts on Saturday between 8.30am and 5.30pm.
Dehri in Rohtas received 6.8mm, followed by Sheikhpura with 4.5mm and Madhepura with 2mm. Jehanabad and Sukhet in Madhubani recorded 1mm each, while Gaya received 1.8mm.
The forecast suggests that while the monsoon will remain active in parts of southern and eastern Bihar, heavy rain is likely to remain localised rather than widespread on Sunday.
