Patna: Bihar is set to experience sharply contrasting weather conditions, with heavy rainfall and thunderstorms forecast in several districts even as heatwave conditions continue in parts of the state’s south-west, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The latest bulletin issued by the Patna Meteorological Centre forecasts cloudy skies across north-west, north-east and south-east Bihar, while hot and humid conditions are expected to persist elsewhere.
Heavy Rain Alert For Seemanchal
The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall at isolated places in the districts of Supaul, Araria, Katihar, Kishanganj, Purnia, Saharsa and Madhepura.
Authorities have warned that intense showers could lead to waterlogging and localised disruptions in these districts.
Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and wind speeds of 40–50 kmph are also expected across parts of north-west, north-central, north-east and south-east Bihar.
Meanwhile, south-west and south-central Bihar may witness thunderstorms with gusty winds reaching 30–40 kmph.

Heatwave Warning Continues
Despite the forecast of rain in several regions, the IMD has retained a heatwave warning for parts of south-west Bihar.
The districts of Kaimur (Bhabua), Buxar and Rohtas are expected to continue experiencing severe heat, and residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day.
Temperature Outlook
Maximum temperatures in West Champaran, Siwan, Muzaffarpur and Darbhanga are expected to range between 32°C and 34°C, with minimum temperatures between 24°C and 26°C.
In north-eastern districts including Araria, Purnia and Supaul, maximum temperatures are likely to remain between 30°C and 32°C.
However, hotter conditions are expected in south-west and south-central Bihar. Patna, Gaya, Buxar and Bhojpur could record maximum temperatures between 36°C and 38°C, while minimum temperatures are forecast to remain between 26°C and 28°C.
According to the Meteorological Centre, the contrasting conditions reflect uneven monsoon activity across Bihar, with rain-bearing systems becoming more active over northern and eastern districts while hot conditions continue to persist in parts of the south-west.
