Patna: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sanjay Jaiswal has launched a sharp attack on Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi ahead of her scheduled visit to Bihar, dismissing her tour as little more than a sightseeing trip and criticising the opposition alliance’s latest election pledge.
Speaking to reporters, Jaiswal remarked that Gandhi would find a very different Bihar compared with “her time”, noting improvements in infrastructure such as roads and flyovers. “Earlier there were hardly any cars or motorcycles, yet traffic jams in Patna were frequent. Now she will see modern transportation facilities,” he said with pointed sarcasm.
The BJP leader went further, advising Gandhi to explore Patna’s landmarks during her stay. He suggested her to visit the Bapu Auditorium, which he described as the largest indoor auditorium in the country built under chief minister Nitish Kumar, and the Patna Museum, which showcases the state’s cultural heritage. “If she comes to Bihar even for a day, she shouldn’t leave without visiting Patna,” he said.
Turning his fire on the Grand Alliance’s recently announced Ati Pichhra Nyay Sankalp Yojana (Justice Resolution Scheme for Most Backward Classes), Jaiswal claimed the opposition was engaged in divisive politics. “A manifesto is meant for the entire society, not just one section,” he argued. “Only those whose politics is rooted in division and discrimination, and who have done no concrete work, bring such fake manifestos filled with hollow promises. This is nothing but vote bank politics.” Priyanka Gandhi is due to visit Bihar as part of Congress’s efforts to boost its presence in the state ahead of upcoming elections.
