Patna: The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has rescheduled its 71st Combined Preliminary Competitive Examination. The exam, which was originally scheduled for September 10, will now take place on September 13.
A total of 4,70,510 candidates have applied online for the examination. The preliminary exam will consist of 150 objective-type questions to be attempted within two hours. Negative marking will apply, and candidates amounting to ten times the number of vacancies will be shortlisted for the mains.
The main written examination will comprise three subjects. General Hindi, carrying 100 marks, is compulsory, and candidates must secure at least 30% to qualify, though these marks will not be counted in the final merit. General Studies Paper 1 and Paper 2 will each carry 300 marks. Additionally, candidates must choose one optional subject, also of 300 marks. Each paper will be three hours long.
Candidates clearing the mains will proceed to the interview stage, worth 120 marks. The final merit list will be prepared based on a total of 1,020 marks, including 900 from the mains and 120 from the interview. In case of a tie, candidates with higher main exam marks will be ranked higher, and if still tied, optional subject marks will be considered.
The results will be released category-wise, and the Commission has urged candidates to keep track of updates regarding their examination centres and admit cards.
