Patna: The government has started a new scheme to help people injured in road accidents. Under the Cashless Treatment Scheme 2025, accident victims will get free treatment up to Rs 1.5 lakh. This help will be given for a maximum of seven days after the accident. The scheme started from 5 May 2025 as announced by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
Victims will get this facility only in hospitals chosen by the government. The aim is to make sure that injured people get immediate treatment without worrying about money. The Secretary of the Transport Department has sent instructions to implement this scheme across all states.
The National Health Authority (NHA) will look after the scheme. It will work with police, hospitals, and state health agencies to provide cashless treatment to the victims. ADTO Raju Kumar said that this scheme will save many lives by giving fast medical care.
The Road Safety Council of every state or union territory will be the main agency to run this scheme. It will add hospitals to the scheme portal, check treatment details, and ensure payments are made to hospitals on time. The government hopes this step will make roads safer and reduce the burden on families after accidents.
