Patna: The Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission has released the results of the Sub-Inspector (Daroga) mains examination, shortlisting 10,759 candidates for the next stage of the recruitment process, the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), against 1,799 vacancies.
The mains examination was conducted on May 27, 2026, in two shifts across the state.
Mains Examination Overview
The written mains exam comprised two papers—General Hindi and General Studies. Candidates were required to secure at least 30 per cent marks in the General Hindi paper to qualify for evaluation.
A total of 34,302 candidates appeared for the General Hindi paper, while 414 were disqualified. In the General Studies paper, 34,298 candidates appeared and 998 were disqualified.
According to commission data, 33,726 candidates met the minimum qualifying criteria after evaluation of both papers.
Vacancy Distribution
Recruitment is being conducted for 1,799 Sub-Inspector posts in Bihar Police.
Of these, 850 posts are unreserved. The remaining seats are distributed across reserved categories, including:
- 273 for Extremely Backward Classes (EBC)
- 222 for Backward Classes (BC)
- 210 for Scheduled Castes (SC)
- 180 for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS)
- 42 for women from Backward Classes
- 15 for Scheduled Tribes (ST)
- 7 for transgender candidates
In addition, 614 posts are horizontally reserved for women.
Cut-off Marks Announced
The commission has also released category-wise cut-off marks for the mains examination.
For the unreserved category, the cut-off was 134 marks for male candidates and 116.20 marks for female candidates. Separate cut-offs have been issued for BC, EBC, EWS, SC and ST categories.
PET Shortlisting and Next Steps
A total of 10,759 candidates—approximately six times the number of vacancies—have been declared successful for the Physical Efficiency Test.
The commission will soon release the detailed PET schedule, including dates and evaluation parameters. Candidates qualifying the PET will move to the final stages of selection.
Examination Timeline
The recruitment process began with the Preliminary Test conducted on January 18 and 21, 2026, for 1,799 posts.
Over 10.36 lakh candidates applied for the examination, while more than 7.26 lakh appeared. The PT results were declared on March 16, 2026, with 35,857 candidates shortlisted for the mains examination.
The mains examination was subsequently held on May 27, after which the latest PET-qualified list has now been released.
