Patna: A passenger bus travelling from Patna to Araria met with an accident early on Saturday morning. The bus crashed into a truck that was parked on National Highway 27 between Bhutaha and Jhitki in Madhubani district. The accident happened around 6 am when the driver lost control and hit the truck.
In this accident, 20 people including the bus driver and helper were injured. Locals and ambulances from Nirmali Sub-Divisional Hospital reached the spot quickly and took the injured passengers to the hospital. Doctors and health workers gave them first aid immediately.
Seven people were seriously injured and have been referred to Supaul Sadar Hospital for better treatment. These include Rajendra Mahato (56), Suraj Kumar (28) from Patna, Neeraj Prasad (35) from Chapra, MD Shahnaz (19), Paro Devi (60), Puniya Devi (60) and Ajay Kumar (29) from Karjain in Araria. Other injured passengers are Jyoti Kumari (26), Kartik Kumar (7), God Kumar (26), Pooja Kumari (25) and some others from Araria and Supaul.
Police are investigating how the truck was left parked on the road without warning signs. Locals say such accidents happen often and strict action is needed to prevent them and keep passengers safe.
