Patna: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a case against two doctors at AIIMS Patna, alleging they secured appointments using fraudulent caste certificates.
The investigation followed a complaint from Satyendra Kumar, a resident of Danapur, who claimed that both doctors had used fake non-creamy layer OBC certificates to obtain posts.
According to the CBI, Dr Kumar Siddharth was appointed as an assistant professor in the physiology department on the strength of three forged certificates issued by Patna Sadar. At the time, his father, Dr Prem Kumar, was head of the radiology department and dean at AIIMS Patna.
The agency also accused Dr Kumar Harshit Raj of manipulating the recruitment process by converting a seat reserved under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) quota into an unreserved general category post, and then using a fake OBC certificate to secure it. His father, Dr Binday Kumar, was then head of paediatric surgery at AIIMS and director of IGIMS.
