Patna: To accommodate the surge of passengers returning to their workplaces after Chhath Puja and Diwali, the Railway Administration has announced the operation of a Puja Special train between Chhapra and Kolkata. The special service aims to ease congestion and provide convenient travel options during the post-festival rush.
According to the Northern Railway, an unreserved Puja Special train (Train Nos. 05088/05087) will operate between Chhapra and Kolkata via Hajipur, Muzaffarpur, Barauni, and Samastipur.
Train Schedule
Train No. 05088 Chhapra–Kolkata Puja Special will depart from Chhapra on October 30 (Thursday) at 2:05 pm and reach Kolkata at 6:00 am the next day. The train will run via Hajipur, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, Barauni, Kiul, Jhajha, Asansol, Durgapur, Bardhaman, Bandel, and Naihati.
On the return leg, Train No. 05087 Kolkata–Chhapra Puja Special will depart from Kolkata on October 31 (Friday) at 9:00 am and arrive at Chhapra at 1:30 am the following day.
Relief for Passengers
The special train will consist of 20 coaches, including 18 general class and 2 LSLRD coaches, and will be fully unreserved, ensuring easy access for ordinary passengers without the need for prior reservations.
Railway officials said the decision was taken to provide relief to passengers facing heavy rush during the festive return period. “The Puja Special train will help thousands of people returning to their workplaces after celebrating Chhath and Diwali with their families,” an official said.
Passengers have been advised to reach stations early and follow all safety protocols while traveling.
